Over 1000 Students graduate from two Regional Universities
Addis Ababa, July
14, 2001 (WIC)- Over 1000 students have
graduated today from the
Bahir-Dar
University in Amhara Regional State and the Mekelle University in Tigrai.
Acting President
of the Bahir-Dar University revealed at the graduation ceremony that 397
students have
earned their first degrees in Civil, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering ,
Natural Sciences,
Mathematics, Chemistry, Geology and Linguistics.
He said 43 others
gradated with Diploma in the stated areas of specialization.
Professor Eshetu
Woncheko, President of the Addis Ababa University who presided over the
graduation
ceremony gave out rewards to meritorious graduate students.
The Mekelle
University likewise conferred degrees and diplomas on 472 students, in Business,
Economics,
Agriculture, Technology , Law, Civil and Industrial Engineering and in Applied
Geology.
Dr. Mitiku Haile ,
the University President stated upon handing over degrees and diplomas to
the graduates that
the University has for the first time graduated students in civil and
Industrial engineering and in Applied Geology.
